Geminids 2027

The year's richest and most reliable shower: dense, bright, multicoloured meteors from an unusual asteroid parent.

Maximum: December 14, 2027 Active: Dec 4 – Dec 20
Viewing from New York

The Geminids reach maximum on December 14, 2027, with a peak rate of up to 150 meteors per hour under ideal dark skies (active Dec 4 – Dec 20). A bright 96%-lit Waning Gibbous is up through much of the peak night and will drown out all but the brightest meteors. A poor year. Rates stay elevated for several nights either side of the maximum, so you do not need to catch the exact peak night.
