Lyrids 2027
The oldest recorded shower, active for over 2,700 years, occasionally throwing bright fireballs.
Maximum: April 22, 2027 Active: Apr 14 – Apr 30
Viewing from New York
The Lyrids reach maximum on April 22, 2027, with a peak rate of up to 18 meteors per hour under ideal dark skies (active Apr 14 – Apr 30). A bright 93%-lit Waning Gibbous is up through much of the peak night and will drown out all but the brightest meteors. A poor year. Rates stay elevated for several nights either side of the maximum, so you do not need to catch the exact peak night.
